Added Value makes the Skyway West Difference

This week, I thought I’d point out some of the things we do at Skyway West Business Internet Services to separate us from Telus, Shaw and the “rest of the pack”. For more info, feel free to text me at 602-262-5262, or email rmcnulty@skywaywest.com. – Robert

Weighing the differences between high speed Internet providers is a challenge. In this economy, a low price and a huge brand name can be appealing, but does it sometimes make sense to pay a little more? A challenging economy, after all, is all the more reason to give your business every advantage possible. With that in mind, let’s look at why choosing Skyway West makes a lot of sense.

For Skyway West’s ADSL service, Telus provides us the wire (aka “the last mile”) to your office, and they transport your data packets (via private VLANs, not mixed with other traffic) back to our Skyway West Network Operations Centre (the NOC). That’s the “middle” 1/3rd of the equation.

It is at the endpoints…the other 2/3rds… where we add value. We are not just “resellers”; we are “rebuilders”.

The NOC

“It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”… in fact, it’s both when you’re talking about peering. Put simply, a router is a box with a roadmap of Internet addresses; our network engineers build the map’s “highways” that your data speeds along.

The catch? Every ISP has a different roadmap, and many Internet providers just route traffic directly back to Telus. We don’t. In addition to transiting connections with both Telus and Level3, we peer with Allstream, Bell, BC Net, Google, Navigata, Primus, Shaw, Microsoft and over 200 other networks. For USA-bound traffic, Level 3 is our premium provider… most ISP’s use Cogent, the “budget” choice.

More routes, premium routes, fewer hops, less congestion, faster networking. Difference #1.

Performance Metrics

Dashboard is free to our clients. Dashboard tracks your service’s ping times, latency and jitter. It’s these factors that directly affect VoIP, Video, VPN and remote Terminal applications. Actual performance info is crucial for trouble-shooting network problems, and it avoids finger-pointing. Other ISPs don’t offer this level of support. Difference #2.

Private Networks, Multiple Media

We build secure tunnels. We encrypt private connections across multiple locations using ADSL, Cable or Fiber. Higher security, direct connections, faster packets…private networking across multiple media. Difference #3.

Redundancy

Primary and secondary routers… primary and secondary power…dual transit connections…duplicated across our managed ADSL, Cable and Fiber services. Emergency generators. We have it all covered. Difference #4.

Static IP Addresses

All of our services are deployed with true static IP addresses that won’t change. Difference #5.

Professional Installation

We will professionally install your router, then test and “tweak” your connection for best performance. Difference #6.

Professionally Managed Services

Throughout our 15 years, Skyway West has maintained a sterling reputation for service. We don’t hide behind voicemail, we respond. When you call us with a problem, chances are we are already working on it. Difference #7.

All of our sales engineers and consultants have many years of experience. (That’s Difference #8).
